Of Seeking, Finding & Possessing the Treasure

The Church is more relevant today than ever before. When I say Church, I would not want to include any gathering that calls itself one. I am glad the mystery of the Church is still a mystery to me. I can take out some verses from the Bible to embellish my idea of a church and try to analyze what is real and what is not. That is not the point.

I believe that a true Church has always existed; it will continue until Christ returns for His Bride. This means there are many false churches in existence alongside. They may be called Churches by their members, while they may be just gatherings of like-minded people. They are like rubble, and rubble is vital to hide the treasure. Our pursuit is to go through the rubble and find and possesses the gem. It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out an issue is the glory of kings. (Psalm 25:2)

This involves two things. First, we need to set our minds on the treasure. Then we need to make sure that the rubble must not sparkle and delude us.

So is there a guarantee that our search will be successful? Of course. If you seek, indeed, you will find. I think most of the so-called gatherings put us in this ‘seeking and finding loop.’ But then….

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. (Mathew 13:44)

To me, the idea of possessing what I seek makes me shudder. It’s scary. It’s scary because it will make me give up all I have to possess it. It’s more terrifying than entrepreneurship. Even if the fear of losing my possessions is minuscule, it snuffs out the intensity of my desire to possess the treasure. This seeking and finding seems like a gamified pseudo intellectual hide-and-seek activity that seems like fun. The point is not in finding it its in possessing it. That’s when the rubber meets the road. That idea of possessing the treasure must scare the hell out of the hell within me.

Only a Church can prepare you to possess the treasure.
